Paula Fouce, president of Paradise Filmworks, directed, wrote and produced NOT IN GOD’S NAME with Tim Kettle as her producing partner.
Paula, at age 19, was sent by Pitzer College, Claremont Colleges to Nepal to study art and philosophy, and became fascinated with Eastern religions. Escorting tours and study groups, Paula trekked through Pakistan, Tibet, Sri Lanka, China, Afghanistan, Burma and Tibet, and spent several years living in India and Nepal.
While researching Shiva, a photographic book on the Yogis of India, she co-authored and photographed with Denise Tomecko, published by White Orchid Press in 1988, Paula lived and traveled with the yogis throughout the Himalayas. She produced and directed the documentary films Origins of Yoga, Naked in Ashes, and Song of the Dunes with William Haugse.
NOT IN GOD’S NAME is a faceted portrait of the importance of religious tolerance in our conflicted world today, featuring Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, and leaders of eight religions. Paula was caught in a life threatening religious riot in 1984, and having seen first hand the hatred of religious intolerance, set off on a quest to find a solution.
